NY flight to Argentina with labrador?

Some family friends are looking to take a trip to Argentina towards the start of the new year. They will be gone about a month, and they would like to bring their beloved dog, who is a medium sized (about 75 lbs.) Labrador Retriever. The wife is very concerned however, about the long flight, and the dog's safety. I was wondering, if anyone has ever flown with this type of dog before, and if they had any information or helpful advice? This would greatly help assuage her feelings of unrest, or possibly correctly confirm her notion that its best to leave their friend at home...

I would say the negatives outweigh the positives by quite a margin. It would be far kinder to leave the dog at home.

That seems like a long flight for a dog not to be able to relieve.

I'd opt to leave the dog at home with a pet sitter or with friends/family.

IMHO the risk involved of flying the lab as checked cargo is not worth it.

In light of this post, I'd definitely opt to leave the dog with a trusted kennel, pet-sitter, family member, or friend rather than fly the dog as cargo.
