Twice Weekly N/S Flights LAN-SNN Starting 6/25/08

Lansing Capitol City airport has announced that a charter tour company, Kenny Tours, will be starting nonstop service from Lansing, MI to Shannon, Ireland in June. Service will be twice weekly, and operate on a leased North American Airways 757-200 branded as Shamrock Express. Service will be seasonal, with flights ending in September.

The economy cabin will seat 156, while the business (Emerald) class cabin will seat 40. I would imagine this will be more like an Economy Plus than a true business class.

This is apparently only the first city announced for Shamrock Express, as they plan on operating seasonal nonstop flights to Shannon from several midwestern cities.

Woah... Random.

I wonder if you'll have to be a part of their tour to book the flight?

Be kinda cool. It'll draw from a good chunk of MI with that location, as well.

Supposedly they are starting similar service from Rockford, IL (RFD) and Harrisburg, PA (MDT), and possibly elsewhere.

I say "possibly" because their website is a little short on details:

Talked to our travel agent here in lansing yesterday to book for this summer, and was informed that this will not be happening until next summer now (2009). Don't have any idea about the other cities, but Lansing is on hold.

Was a real bummer as I'm in Lansing and my sig other is in Ireland... we were really looking forward to this direct flight (noone flies direct to Ireland from MI). I think they got a little ahead of themselves with this plan...

Another post discussing UA pulling their RFD-DEN flight mentions that they are not going to add the RFD-SNN flights, so that one is out, it would seem.
