Baggage theft ring smashed

Indonesian police have arrested 25 baggage handlers at Jakarta's international airport over thefts from airline passengers' checked luggage.

Local police crime investigation chief Taufik Hidayat said the syndicate was broken following complaints from passengers.

"It involved some baggage handlers working for state airline Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia, Lion Air and Batavia Air," he told AFP today.

He said both international and domestic passengers had been victims.
Good to see that complaints actually result in some action. Unfortunately there are probably 100 more people waiting to take their places.

Sad, but sometimes I think the airport staff can be a bigger problem than some crook wandering around looking to steal from passengers.

Yeah, that actually one who gotten busted by airlines from passengers' luggage in entire countries. It was absolutely is wrong what they did with baggage handlers isn't good common sense. I know all passengers was complaints against baggage handlers does took all the items during on the ramp. I would assumed need extra security surveillance camera around the baggage handlers area. I think airport security need more stricter. Do you think keep protected all passengers' luggage before the bags is leave.
