Amazing footage:

Pigeons in flight
I want to see you tonight
I want to hold you
If I may be so bold to
And tell you some things that you’d like
To hear
Oh my dear
In your ear

Pidge Pidge, Pidge I wanna see you!
Pidge Pidge, Pidge I wanna see you tonight!

Apparently the pigeon survived. Just a bit stunned.

very cool video...

saw the same thing at sfo years back when a) twa was still around and you could watch the planes from the parking lot opposite 1r.

twa 223 (sfo-sjc-stl) (md 80) took off from 10l and blew it's right engine at about 200 feet (big shot of flame out of the engine followed by a puff of black smoke). made a big circle out over the bay and came right back on 19l. perfect job by the flight deck ^.

the interesting thing is that when 223 came in for it's original landing prior to the event, as they were taxiing to the gate, the flight deck complained about being stuck beind a 67 and having "all kinds of stuff blowing in their face"*. wonder if that had anything to do with the engine failure as perhaps something blew into the engine.

*having a handheld scanner is fun ;) and in the video, are you sure it's a 57 (no double over wing window exits)? looks more like an airbus.....

It's a 757. Look at the wingtips.

They don't have airbuses in their fleet:

This video has been around in the UK for a while, including the crew's ATC conversations. It happened to a Thomson 757 at Manchester, they got the engine failure as they rotated, the flame and backfiring were just a consequence of the bird carcass passing through the engine. They went off single engine to a nearby holding point for a while while everyone got in place, then came back. No need for an instant return. Passengers transferred to another aircraft, engine had to be changed.

Nice the way the First Officer said "Mayday Mayday Mayday" in a totally nonchalent voice as it happened. Of course, he'd done it 100 times before in the simulator.

maybe i didn't have enough coffee at the time but the first thing i looked at were the wingtips (i've seen 'busses without tips) but then the nose looked too short and dumpy to be a '57 but oh, well, like my signature says........
