Bypassing Airport Security at the Grand Hyatt Dallas/Fort Worth

The Grand Hyatt at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport has been secretly testing a pilot program for the last two weeks that allow hotel guests to bypass airport security without a boarding pass.
Don't worry, the TSA is on it as they are studying how the hotel lets guests into the "secured side of the airport after being specially screened." The study is part of a larger security study on airport hotels.

This is part of a TSA test program which will allow hotel guests access to the "sterile" area of the airport so they can use the shops and restaurants. They are also testing this program at the Westin DTW. CNN is reporting that they may also roll this out to PIT.

As stated in the thread about fake BP, it's the screening the provides the security - an (easily faked) piece of paper does nothing. PIT has been clamoring for this for quite a while to bring business back to the "airport shopping mall"

Did this Friday 11th September 2009, the concierge at Grand Hyatt contacts uniformed Police officer who completes a form using your driving licence infomation does a phone check on you then escorts you to the regular security screening area and hands you over to a TSA officer. Normal screening is done to you as well as a pat down, not at all inconvenient as you are then able to go terminal to terminal using the Skylink to shop, and eat. A great idea just be prepared for a bit of a wait and all is good.

So the police department essentially issues you a gate pass. What a waste of LEO resources.

Who keeps the form with DL information (and any other personal information)? How much information - DL number, address, itinerary details? Looks like an opening for identity theft.

I have also done this one time when staying at the DFW GH. I was appalled at the amount of information I had to give up, and the search included a secondary despite the fact that I was wearing shorts, a polo shirt, and flip-flops and carrying a paperback novel.

Don't waste your time.

Sounds like the police are also doing a warrant check.

Waste of LEO resources, a dragnet operation, combined with more TSA garbage as it sounds like they're doing secondary screenings on top of the primary.

Better pray you don't have an unresolved speeding ticket or some type of error in the warrants database.

With all the hassle involved, would be much easier to catch a taxi to the closest shopping mall.
