Yotel - World's Most Radical Hotel

http://www.pimpwiz.com/2006/06/yotel...al-hotel.shtml

Let's imagine, for a moment, that you just toddled off of an
airplane, lugging fifty pounds of luggage behind you.
Considering your raging hangover from too much in-flight scotch, chattering tourists and polyester-clad flight attendants are two of the last things you want to see. In fact, visions of a cushy, freshly-made bed and a hot shower are the only things that sound appealing or even tolerable right now. Simon Woodroffe, mastermind of one of the world's most radical hotel concepts, feels your pain.

Yotel, NiteNite and a few other such concepts have been getting increased press space as of late. Haven't checked them out myself, but I too think it makes rather good sense for a segment of the travel market.

Sounds like a variation on the theme of existing transit hotels such as the one (two, actually) in Singapore. At SIN you pay for a basic "block" of six hours, then by the hour for more time after that. No Internet, but free access is not far from the entrance (at least in T1).

Interesting concept, reminiscent of 'hotels' in Japan. I wonder how successful this product will be in the UK or even the US. It's certainly something that wouldn't appeal to me, but I am a small fish in a big market!

Said earlier today on AIM:

"HeathrowGuy: http://www.pimpwiz.com/2006/06/yotel...al-hotel.shtml

HeathrowGuy: wasn't that kinda like what the A380 was supposed to have inside?

ConcordeBoy81: no

ConcordeBoy81: ...the way the thing was marketed, this s**t would barely qualify as a maid's quarter

The lack of a window is a deal breaker for me.

When I get off a long flight, I want a beer, a shower, and a comfortable bed. This seems like it fits the bill for all three. The Hilton at LHR has day rates, but they are as much as the overnight rates.

Who needs a window when you are trying to sleep???

If I get into Singapore late, I always spend the first night at the transit hotel, just a twin bed & tv which is perfect for a few hours sleep before I go on to something a little nicer for the rest of the stay.
