The government is ending a program that let frequent air travelers avoid extra security pat-downs in exchange for volunteering for background checks, but a private sector version will be allowed to continue, the Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday.

I got an email from some governmental agency (TSA?) yesterday, announcing that my LAX program was being 86'ed. No great loss, in my opinion.

The private sector version will of course be better run, make someone a lot of money and ensure our personal data remains safe and secure. Not.
