747ADV and SQ's RFP for 20 250-seater jets and more ER jets

Today's ATW shows a couple of interesting short articles:

ANZ may be interested in 747ADV and Boeing appears to be moving toward a July launch of both the cargo and passenger versions of the 747ADV.

Also, SQ has issued a new RFP for 20 250-seaters (787 or A350)

In addition, SQ is looking for 5-10 extended-range planes. (more A345 or 772LR?)

PARIS (XFN-ASIA) - Singapore Airlines plans to order 25-30 long-haul airplanes before the end of this year, with the entire order going to either Airbus or Boeing Co, chief executive Chew Choon Seng told French daily La Tribune in an interview.

The order will include 20 medium-capacity planes, in order for the carrier to increase its flight capacity to the US, and another 5-10 extended-range planes, Chew said.

For the medium-capacity order, Singapore Airlines will choose between Airbus's A350 and Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, models that are still under development at each company.

Regarding the delay for deliveries of Airbus's A380 superjumbo, Chew said this delay will have no impact on the company's choice for the extended-range models, which will be based "only on the performance of the models".
Exciting year at Airbus and Boeing.... and if the American legacy carriers return to health in the next couple of years, it will be interesting to see the order books then.

My (Monopoly) money is on SQ choosing the 777-200LR and the 787.

The A345 is not meeting their payload needs (hence the boutique configuration) so they will want the 777-200LR as they are already the largest 777 operator.

And because of that, the 787 will be their choice, since they will get cockpit commonality plus other benefits (similar GE powerplants).
