Well, yes, but this was sloppy and inaccurate news, that mischaracterized completely what happened. So, to anyone who sees that as news, I guess it was.

My comments, which turned out to be quite accurate, were called, "too appalling to respond to."

Most special meals are loaded with plastic cutlery these days. The story I've been told is that most special meals are not specific to a region/flight. Hence if a flight from AMS-ORD gets no metal and AMS-JNB does then it's almost assured that the caterer in AMS will NOT put metal cutlery in the special meals as that daily special meal is going to target many flights.

If this was a JNB originating flight, same story... UK/US destined flights don't allow metal cutlery, however most European and Asian carriers flying to/from outside the UK/US could care less.
