"HIGH" Terror risk

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/02/07/thr...vel/index.html

I assume that the latest polls are out and that Bush's numbers are slipping - hence the increase of risk accessment.

So what are we supposed to do differently?

I left work this afternoon not knowing that the threat level had been raised from yellow to orange! Can you believe that? If I had known, obviously I would have done things COMPLETELY differently.

I would have left the building by a different door (we have four to choose from). And I would have taken a circuitous route to Pennsylvania Station. Oh, wait, it's nuts to go to Penn Station at all when the color is orange! What was I thinking?

But how could I get the train to Princeton without going to Penn Station? Oh, I know! I'll climb down into the Hudson River tunnel and try to leap onto the train as it passes by at 60 mph or so. Then I'll be safe! Whew, I'm glad I thought of that!

But wait, trains aren't safe, either! I should swim across the Hudson (it's not THAT cold), then hike the 55 miles or so to Princeton. Some of the neighborhoods that I would have to walk through are normally considered pretty dangerous, but that's in normal times. The color is ORANGE now! That makes everything different! Come on, which would you choose: (1) walking alone through Newark, NJ, or (2) taking public transportation when the color is orange? Isn't the choice obvious?

Well, I intend to stay locked in my house this weekend. Maybe I won't go to work on Monday. Better to go hungry and lose my job than risk going out, right? The color is ORANGE now!!! Be safe, everybody.

bdschobel,
Dont worry that head of yours wondering what we're supposed to do differently, CNN has taken care of it for us!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
- Make a plan for contacting family members in an emergency
- Learn about different types of attacks so you will know what to do in an emergency
- Do not cancel events or travel plans
- Be especially aware of your surroundings and the events happening around you

Let's see, increase threat assessment level, stir up war hysteria and create a pretext to start a war.
Courtesy of an administration brought to you by the Supreme Court. The best **** administration money could buy.

Is this thread a contest where we hallucinate the worst motives possible behind everything our government does?
Pretty creative, the bit about raising threat levels to get popularity points. It's good to know that is all there is behind it, and that it has nothing to do with thousands of muslims seeking to slay as many Americans as possible. That's all a myth right? Or were those guys paid to blow up American targets for Bush to improve his popularity? Ha ha, I am getting good at this.

I guess the above posts are pretty good parody of how brain dead some Americans have become, so blinded by their psychotic hatred of Bush, that their imaginations conjure up all manner of madness to fit their world view. Still it was a little harsh, don't you think?

I don't hate Bush.. I merely do not trust those in office. It would be the same thing with Clinton/Gore or whomever.....Deomocrat or Republican. Either are after nothing but power. They are not there because of some sense of duty, or patriotism.

Today's politicos are capable of anything....whether it is plotting a plan for mass murder (to consolidate power), or commit armed forces to improve ratings....

I don't trust any of them.....

Frankly I'm quivering in my basement with a blanket over my head and am seriously thinking about ending it all right here and now...if this is Orange...I can't think or want to live through RED!!!!

Ashcroft...can we say "common sense."

Let's see...wasn't there that present and credible intelligence about the Golden Gate Bridge being blown up...then it turned out that some Al Quida prisoner farted.

But my God, the Hyatt in Kansas City is on guard...so as I sit nearly in its shadow, I feel so much better knowing that the Hyatt is limiting access to their circle drive.

And Ridge says don't change your travel plans, don't stop doing what you are doing, don't cancel anything...BUT KISS YOUR ... GOOD-BYE because this is it: THE BIG ONE!

OMG, when can we, the common sense based majority, take back our country from the hysterical doom-sayers?

I bet that now that we're on "ORANGE" alert they'll start scrambling fighters and escorting planes to search areas when only one passenger moves forward one row (to be able to exit faster upon landing) near the end of a flight. This week it was, I believe, three passengers and a few rows forward.

New roolz:

1. don't pass notes to the pilot that say "neat clean or tidy" or anything like that.

2. don't move forward on the plane. Anyone asking to upgrade during the flight is a SUSPECT.

3. never try to buy a ticket at the airport (that is very suspicious)

Top Ten List of Being "Suspcious"

(1) Criticizing the Current Government. "You are either with us or you support the enemies of the state"... That will automatically put you on the top of Ashcroft's most suspicious - especially if you say you voted for the dead guy or carry a copy of the Washington Post;

(2) Going to your Mosque, Temple or Catholic Churh for prayer. If you were a god-fearing, bible toting white Christian you wouldn't be suspicious Didn't you know that they practice animal and human sacrifice?;

(3) Gather in groups...these are "special times", when freedom of the American people are at stake...

(4) Protest TSA going though your stuff without a reason - afterall, they are only trying to protect us. Especially protesting the removal of any sedious items, such as a prayer book, the Washington Post, or pointy objects or intrusive body searches;

(5) Request a lawyer, as an American citizen, because you are a "enemy combatant". Protesting the seizure of property or incarcaration or made to confess or incriminate yourself;

(6) When charged, demanding a speedy trial, with representation of counsel; and the ability to confront your accusers;

(7) Demanding that you have a jury trial and not have that decision overturned by the Justice department or its cronies....;

(8) Complaining that excessive bail or bond be posted because you were found to have wire and a protest note in your suitcase; or being humiliated at the treatment by TSA;

(9) Exclaiming that you have rights of dignity or other commonly held beliefs or rights....

(10) Protesting that the people, and the states and not the Federal government, have the primary power.

IMHO
