He's trying to get a new tickets back home. He was being caught by airport police. Can't you believe this? He has been arrested. He was charged with frauds.

More surprising that he could get away with this for so many years

He's not the only one who runs that scam. I've was approached by someone on the SFO airtrain just last month with an extremely similar sob story. Need to change flight to get home, credit card not working, I'll give you my email address and name and pay you back right away. I saw people give him money. It works.

"...earning him up to £15,000 a month."

Wow

Yeah, shame on him! He will go to prison for life. He's trying to steals the money from those people.

Yeah it's the same thing with some thieves asking if they can "borrow" your cellular phone. You can be sure they will run with it.

As a result, I offer to pay at the counter for the anyone asking for returning home money or outright refuse.

The link doesn't seem to work.

ADDED: Now it does from the quote in my post here, but clicking on the OP doesn't work for me.

Someone tried to pull that scam on me at LAX about 10 years ago.

Not an uncommon scam even outside airports.

Some time ago in a Nairobi café, I had three very earnest young men tell me they were refugees from Idi Amin's Uganda illegally in Kenya and they desperately needed help to go to family in Tanzania.

I asked them if Yoweri Museveni hadn't been elected recently, and why didn't they just take a matatu to Namanga and walk across the border? :D

Old scam; airports just offer up greater numbers of potential sheep to fleece and a more appropriate venue.
