ALL: if your comments have to do specifically or exclusively with a particular carrier's decisions around this, please add to the relevant threads in the various airline forums.

Let's reserve this thread for general discussion that is NOT carrier-specific.

And please do remember that political posts/characterizations/argumentation go in OMNI/PR, not here.

Thanks.

A couple things seem clear.

1. Safety is still and always will be number 1.
2. No airline is going to let political pressure force them into a dangerous situation. I hope.

Thanks for posting the story!

As it's not really a topic specific to the Information Desk (how to use FlyerTalk, broad-scope cross-program assistance, etc.), I'll move this to the Travel News forum, the home of breaking news and discussion on FlyerTalk.

Those responding, please note this thread began in the flame-free Information Desk forum.

For now, BA hasn't cancelled so you can fly through them as with Iberia, Alitalia, and some others. Alternatively, you can take a flight to Europe and then connect (manually) with an El Al flight because they will almost certainly not stop flying.

El AL has an anti-missle system on their fleet. They will continue to fly.

Airlines which have suspended flights (and there may be others):

Europe: 4U, AF, AZ, KL, LH, LX, OS
US: DL, SK, UA, US
Canada: AC

Airlines in major alliances which I haven't seen suspension notices from:

Star Alliance:
A6 ATH
ET ADD
JP LJU
LO WAW
TK IST/SAW

One World:
AB TXL/DUS/MUC
BA LHR
IB MAD
RJ AMM

SkyTeam:
OK PRG
RO OTP/IAS
SU SVO

Additionally, there are many other non-affiliated airlines, particularly from Europe (as well as the two Israeli airlines) which may be helpful.

One might also consider flying into AMM and going overland to Tel Aviv.

There is limited seasonal scheduled international service to OVD in the south of Israel.

Michael Bloomberg flying to Israel to protest FAA ban

Former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg is taking an El Al flight to Tel Aviv tonight in protest of the FAA's ban on flights to Israel.

These airlines are dropping service quite quickly.....even Easyjet.
