Trouble-Plagued Dreamliner Only 98% Reliable, Boeing Admits

The Dreamliner's reliability rate is now around 98 percent, meaning that two out of every 100 flights is delayed, which is above the 97 percent reported in October but still short of the firm's target...
Currently the B777 is 99.4% reliable. Boeing is working to raise the Dreamliner's numbers to something similar to the 777.

The key point here is not that a 777 is at 99.4%, it's that it took the 777 fleet 4 years to get to 99%.

Being behind a product that has 19 years of ongoing refinement under its belt is hardly shocking.

Do you have the initial performance/reliability numbers of the 787 vs 777 for year 1, year 2 yet?

I think the issues is that the 787's reliability has been beaten by the 380. Wonder how it compares to the 747-8 ?

Nope, but those number are exactly what would make a very interesting comparison.
