Flight attendants during pre-flight announcements don't tell you everything. Here's some information that BA lets you know through a flight safety awareness course.

I always thought (and posted on FT) that exit row seats should go to non-revs and military etc not to some drunken DYKWIA

Many airliners will put the cabin lighting on prior to a night landing to charge up the emergency aisle exit strips which work like glow in the dark tape.
