+1 Agreed. Great beaches in the BCN area are usually located outside the city. For example, Stiges, etc.

This article absolutely reeks of "places I wanted to go so I found a theme." Some entries (Sydney, Miami, Rio) make absolute sense (and are great places to go). But, if it's about cities with beaches, why not Chicago? Maybe Chicago wasn't on the wish list.

I think this list has to be interpreted in the way that "here we have some great bustling cities, that also has a beach life".

Even though I'm a total BCN nut however I can't simply fathom however how it could rank above Miami Beach or Rio de Janeiro (maybe on sexiness).

Santa Monica has just always reeked of urine to me. Not my preferred beach city by any means

Maybe they meant top 10 beach cities for coliform counts? I'm relatively certain that's the only way Santa Monica could make the list.
