Surgery no longer a requirement for changing gender on passport

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/09/pas....html?hpt=Sbin

The U.S. State Department announced Wednesday a new policy that no longer requires passport applicants seeking a gender change to have undergone sexual reassignment surgery.
The policy, which goes into effect Thursday, allows a gender change with a certification from an attending physician.

well, then you passport must be a forged passport!

look on the right side of the data page... it clearly lists the sex(either M or F) of the passport holder.
Are you saying your passprot says no sex?

I'm looking at my passport right now. It says "sex/sexe/sexo" (Engligh/French/Spanish) not "gender" on the right side of the data page. This is a US passport. Do foreign passports not show sex on the passport data page?

My driver's license shows weight and height.... wish they would eliminate the "weight" from futher driver's licenses. (at least until I get a chance to lose 10 pounds)

Ah. Both my US and my "foreign" passport have my sex listed on them, but not my gender. They are not always the same, you know.

NY State drivers' licenses don't have weight on them. At least mine doesn't.
