Children in AirBNB

I apologize in advance if this has already been a topic of conversation but I am looking for some advice...

We booked a house at a local beach for Fourth of July weekend a few months ago. When we booked we were right at the "max" occupancy of 12 (8 adults, 2 children and 2 babies). Recently, another couple had a change in plans and are planning on joining us that weekend. That will make our total 16 (10 adults, 2 children and 4 toddlers under the age of 2).

Should I be worried that we are now over the occupancy of the house? Any suggestions if you think this is a problem?

It might be too late but I figured I would add this for others:

YES that is absolutely a problem, and can get you in some hot water not just with the host (who would be allowed to bill you extra) but with Airbnb as well.

Always contact the host first. Transparency is the name of the game.

It's now past the 4th of July. How did this work out?

Yea, per AIRBNB rules, they can cancel you and keep your money as you voided the contract And they can write bad review to keep you from renting in the future. How did it work?
