Direct flight or connection?
Hi all,
try to understand which would be the best option for a flight with a baby (4 months old). Flight is Hamburg-Milan; as you know, MXP and LIN are available and LIN would be my best option as is only 25-30min from home, MXP is 1h15min about. From HAM to LIN no direct flight available, only with connection in FRA (with LH); to MXP there is Eurowings and easyJet. Direct flight would be 1h40min flight, with connection would be 1h+1h about. With LH (connection), additional baggage is included for baby too, but that's not so important. So: direct: 1h40min flight + 1h15min car == 3h connection: 1h flight + 1h flight + 30min auto == 2h30min Problem with connection is disembarking, embarking and so on, but maybe LH offers priority to family with baby? Thanks Marco |
Nonstop
Fra connections can be a pain with occasional remote gates, airport size, delays etc... |
No question about direct being the much better option.

Agree. Take the nonstop. In addition, when you're doing the time for the connection, you need to include the connection time. The shortest combination is a 45 minute layover, so you're looking at 3 hours from HAM departure to LIN arrival.
The nonstop flight will be faster, even including the extra driving. Plus, you won't have the hassle of changing planes at FRA with a 4 month old. |
Is there a connection (on LH) through MUC? It's a much easier airport than FRA.
