Toddler friendly spas across the US
 

I'm looking to take the wife to a spa for a few days next May for our 10 year and we've decided to bring along our son who will be just shy of 2 years old at the time.

We'd ideally like to find a relaxing place, nice scenery, maybe do some horseback riding, laying by the pool, bike riding, having the wife get a massage or two, etc. Thus far, it's been tough for me to find nice venues with access to those amenities in addition to child care (babysitting would be fine but some type of "kids club" would be ideal).

Location wise we are open. Colorado, Wyoming, Michigan, Montana, etc...we're located in Chicago but are willing to go anywhere across the US (hence me posting in this forum instead of some of the geographically specific forums). Canada would be fine, too.

Are you looking for included childcare, or simply available?

When you listed what you were looking for, the first place I thought of was Lake Geneva. The Grand Geneva has childcare, but it is $10 an hour.

Thanks for the recommendation. Been up to Lake Geneva once a few years back (sans kids). Weve always talked about going back but never got around to it.

I don't have children, so take my suggestion appropriately. The place that lept to my mind on reading what you want is Hyatt Lost Pines outside Austin, Texas. It's very child friendly, it has horses, it has a lazy river, it has campfires with s'mores. It has a spa. You can ask questions specific to your interests in the property thread:

Many hotels do not take non-potty trained kids in their kids' club, so check on that before you go.

Club Med Sandpiper Bay comes to mind. Not sure what the spa is like, but they take children as young as infants for a fee. The rooms are designed to accommodate a family, too, with a separate sleeping space for children.

I've never been there but have been considering it for a family reunion.

Correct, I know the Hyatt Lost Pines requires you to be 3 years and potty trained. I may or may not have cheated a little when my daughter was 2, but she was talking, potty trained, etc.
