Motion Failed: TalkBoard Officer Platforms and TalkBoard Election Officer

On 22 Jan 2011, the TalkBoard failed to pass 1-7-0-1:

Moved by Markie and seconded by jackal:

The following text be appended to section 3, paragraph ii:

"g. Each candidate for an office of TalkBoard has the right to publish a platform outlining his or her principles and intentions. The candidates should submit their platforms to the current TalkBoard President no later than twenty four hours after declaring their candidacy. The outgoing TalkBoard President will, in the interest of fairness, publish the candidate platforms in a new thread announcing the candidates concurrently after all candidates' platforms have been received.
h. If the outgoing TalkBoard President is himself or herself running again, or if the outgoing TalkBoard President no longer has access to the TalkBoard forum, then all platform statements shall be submitted to the outgoing TalkBoard Vice President, who will bear responsibility for publishing them as directed in sub-paragraph (g).
i. In the case where both the outgoing TalkBoard President and outgoing TalkBoard Vice President no longer have access to the TalkBoard Forum, the outgoing TalkBoard President shall appoint a Temporary Elections Officer to supervise the electoral process from among the incoming TalkBoard members who do not intend to run for the office of President. The Temporary Elections Officer's role shall be limited to collecting and publishing the candidates' platforms described in sub-paragraph (g), announcing the candidates, and posting the poll to select the President as described in these Guidelines. The roll of the Temporary Elections Officer will cease once the TalkBoard President is selected and has no responsibilities or rights other than those specified in this section or by virtue of being a member of the TalkBoard. If the Temporary Elections Officer himself or herself later desires to run for the office of President, he or she shall relinquish the role to another member of TalkBoard who does not intend to run for that office.
