Thrifty MCO 10/17-10/22/09

Split time between Denmark and Orlando (family). Still have FLA license, and usually rent thru Thrifty website using no coupons. Looking around the 'net I came across this code: # 004H004504 which is tied to this page: http://orlandotouristinformationbure.../carrental.htm. I am new to using codes and the like, and was looking for an opinion from some of you out there...is this a shady looking deal, or should I go for it. Drops my rental price to 150.00 from 210.00...

Thanks in advance!

Haven't heard anything about this program. I have heard about the Orlando Magicard discount (004M001010), which you can qualify for by downloading and printing a free Magicard at http://www.orlandoinfo.com/magicard/download.cfm.

I'm suspicious, but such discounts aren't completely unheard of (there's a similar one in Hawaii that apparently has Thrifty in Hawaii's blessing).

Thank you!

Thanks so much for your response. I used the Magicard code and it ended up being a couple dollars less than the other one. The tourist bureau code just feels a little too shady too me. Thanks again for your help!!^

jackal expresses my thoughts exactly - about the first organization (Which I have never heard of) and the Orlando Magicard discount which I use, even though I live here.

I live 35-45 minutes away and sometimes use two, one-day rentals at Thrifty when traveling for leisure. I have found that a 1-day rental before and another at the conclusion of my trip is a lot cheaper than paying for 3 weeks or more of airport or even off-airport parking. In addition, I get to leave my own car in my garage at home, protected from the elements. The Magicard discount make this work for me.

Here are some snippets from the website in question, orlandotouristinformationbureau.com:

It may very well be a legitimate company (though not the official nonprofit Orange County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, which is at orlandoinfo.com--actually, they are the ones that issue the Magicard, since the Magicard info is on that site [http://www.orlandoinfo.com/magicard/]), and they may very well have negotiated a legitimate discount with Thrifty (it sounds similar to the "CONDO IN HAWAII" code I mentioned above), but all things considered, I feel more comfortable recommending use of the Magicard discount, since it's an established program (and offered by the official convention and visitor's bureau).
