I'll take the bus before paying rates like this. Any suggestions? Any secret codes? Any sage advice?
Rates in the summer can be quite high in certain cases. Like most things, it's based on supply and demand. Rates can drop as the pickup date approaches. It's best to book as early as possible and track rates over time. Since you don't have to put any money down (assuming you're not booking via Priceline or Hotwire), you can always re-book if a better deal comes along.

You can track an existing rental at AutoSlash.com so you don't have to do all this checking manually.
