Dropping Car Off at Another Location Without Notice
Hi,
I am currently in Florida and need to return my rental to a different location than my pick-up. I'm trying to think of the option which will cost me less.
1. Do I just return it without doing anything and hope for the best?
2. Do I phone Thrifty and inquire about the fee?
3. ?
Thank you.

I'd definitely call them. Fees could be $50, or $1000, depending on the difference of your contract and drop fee. Nothing I'd want to risk just by dumping it at another location.

I'd call for sure - esp if you have driven a lot - your rate might go from unlimited to a per mile fee as well, plus a drop charge. If there is some type of situation (family emergency for example) maybe explain that and hope they can assist. Dropping it without explanation will most luckily produce the largest possible penalty

Thank you for your replies.
I remember back in the day it was just a simple $50 or $75 fee but the reason I am reluctant to call them is that now every situation becomes a cash grab. Just want to prevent them from screwing me over toooooo much.

If I were the company and you just left it at another location without permission I would screw you over big time and maybe report missing vehicle to police.

Well kiwitrains, I had no intention of "just leaving it" anywhere. There is a huge difference between "just leaving it" somewhere and returning it to a different location.
