BKK transit and connection questions
Hi Thai forum people,
I have a friend who is connecting from an Air Asia flight SIN-BKK to an EgyptAir flight BKK-CAI, with about 1 1/2 hours to make the connection. Can anyone confirm please: - He can stay airside and check in for his MS flight at the transit desk - No need to pass through immigration (he has a passport that requires a visa to enter Thailand) - Can he check a bag airside as well, or must he go landside to do that? - Provided flights are on time, any issues with the connection time? I'm assuming he can't check his bag through from SIN to CAI. Thanks! |
Outside of the checked baggage issue the above seems fine. But since AirAsia doesn't interline baggage, pickup and recheck would be required, so presumably he'll have to pass through passport control in order to COLLECT his checked bag, in order to recheck it. And AFAIK there's no visa-free transit for folks whose passports require a visa.
Seems to me like he'd either need a ticket on a carrier that'll interline, or a visa. But I am hardly the expert here. |
