Krabi vs. Phi Phi
 

I have flights into Phuket over CNY, but have no intention of staying in Phuket proper. Am trying to decide whether to go over to Phi Phi or to Krabi. I'm looking for just basic beach hut style accommodation and a stunning beach! Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on Krabi vs. Phi Phi? All we want to do is relax on the beach, read books and eat well. Thanks!

There are no beaches in Krabi. The closest is probably Ao Nang but the beaches there aren't that great.

Ko Phi Phi would probably be a better bet for what you're looking for but if you're staying in the center of the main town, it can get a little noisy at night.

There are also many beaches in Phuket that are not as crowded as Patong.

Ko Lanta is also an option, it's more laid back than Phi Phi. You're starting to get pretty far from Phuket though... one kinda-off-the-beaten-track option is the small islands off Phuket's east coast, which are under the radar of most travelers, yet pretty easily accessible.
