I'm curious about some clubs to go to as well, im arriving to bkk latenight on june 2 and would like to know some good places. you say not to let a taxi driver take you anywhere, well then, where should we go?
Once you are done, there are some late nite food vendors still open. They are all over BKK. Otherwise, some early food vendors will open around 5AM. If you are tired and want a quick nap, get a cheap room around Khao Sarn Rd. Most likely, the room wont have AC but I think you'll be too tired to care at that point ;) rgds, drew |

Khao Sarn Road will have lots of backpackers hanging around at bars for cheap boozes. I dont know what time the bars close though. Back in my partying days (3-4 yrs ago), clubs stay opened until 3am. I think they tightened up the hours a bit.
Depends where you want to party.... if you are in Suk Soi area then that is one thing.... but Khao San Rd is far away (easy and cheap ride of course) but that area stopped being fun for me about 10 years ago so I guess I'm much older then you :( . I have no clue what time that area is shutting down but my hunch is that it doesn't shut down and you can find something open around the clock. I stay more on Suk Soi 20's - 30's range or try to most of the time so there is Q and Spice and others. That area has many bars but official closing times vary and some stay open late if full or have customers and some don't etc... Many ex pats do not like Spice but I'm fine with it and it is open late, my friend gets off work at 1 am so we will go to spice after work for a while. Also walking Sukhumvit from Soi 3 to Soi 20 can be an interesting waste of time and if you look up the side soi's you'll find many places that will be open or street vendors open. But those two ends are more of a red light district so you might see items you don't want to see... Most of the regular stalls on that street shut at 1 am or as of a few weeks ago they were still shutting down at 1 am time frame... They also change the items that are sold during the day.... during the day time XXXX is being sold at the stalls then later at night different items are being sold at the same stalls.... BKK has many different areas of attractions, if you want to know about the Suk Soi range then you can PM me as that is where I've been housed there for a while now. But back to the OP.... get a room.... you want to sleep during the day so you can party all night? then fine up to you.... but man those trans pacific flights are a killer and if you are not used to them or this is the first time... get a room. |
Isn't this called: penny wise - pound foolish?

some moderate clean suggestions
By moderate, I am talking about roughly $60-$70 U.S. per night. There are probably hundreds of cheaper options, but I have stayed at these two. One of them last week. They are clean and modern.
Novotel Lotus www.accorhotels.com look for last minute specials/I forget the Soi number Aspen Suites: new property so it has not deteriorated. Soi 2 Sukhamvit. Checked in at 2 a.m. If you use this option, please be sure to have them send you the address by e-mail in Thai. This advice is absolutely essential because the airport has not heard of them. I paid 2199 baht all in including breakfast (not great but included in rate). Or try www.asiarooms.com or www.sawadee.com for prepaid bookings, be sure to read the reviews. Also look up the hotels on www.tripadvisor.com and read between the lines of the reviews. www.google.com "hotel name, city, review" is the generic format for reviews |

But their prices have gone higher and they charge higher rates for other items (last time they tried to nail me huge on internet so stopped going there). |
Soi Cowboy or Nana should keep you occupied until the early hours ! ;)
But seriously: Get a room. You should be able to get a room at the ROS for THB 5000 - 6000. Much less at local hotels, probably in the 2000 -3000 range. |
Most of the good bars do close at two. There is this one place that is open till 6. I was there from 3-6am and had a great night but I had consumed so much alcohol by then there is no way I can recall the name of it. So if you like to go clubbing then you can do it for sure. If you just want to walk around and take in the sites then yeah I vote for a cheap hotel room for the night.

This place shuts at two. Both times I went to some after hours clubs that the Tok Tok driver told me about and had a great time. I have no idea on name or how to get there. I drank way to much to remember :D |
