ko samui
will be in ko samui for a day (cruise ship stop) any suggestions?
Thanks |
If you don't mind spending another 4 hours in a boat...
Take a day trip out to Ang Thong Marine Park. Some of the most beautiful islands and beaches I've ever seen. Most trips leave early in the morning and get back late afternoon/early evening. Tons of on-island travel agencies can make arrangements. Otherwise, you could walk around Chaweng beach, go to a monkey show? |
I presume your boat will dock on the east coast of this small island. You could take a cab or tuk tuk to the 'baan taling ngam' hotel for lunch at the beach club or the cliff top restaurant. Followed by a trip to Chaweng beach on the west coast for a spot of shopping (if you are not all shopped out).
Altenatively, there is a crocodile farm on the north coast with a crocodile show etc. depends on what you are looking for. Ko samui is now a well developed (over developed ?) family touristy island. enjoy the cruise. |

for a one-day stop, i think samui itself has nothing truly spectacular except the beaches, though chaweng beach can appear to be overdeveloped. i'd simply relax and go swimming on chaweng beach. the water inside the lagoon is very shallow and calm, as it's protected by a reef. ian. :) |
