So, there is easy SkyTrain access from wherever the Hilton shuttle boats drop you?

FWIW, I was at the Westin last week and wasn't accosted once by hookers despite a couple of walks to the train from there. Actually, wasn't even too hassled by the street vendors.

Sadly, it was a regular room (it seems my *wood Gold status must have lapsed. :( Last time they upgraded me to a suite).

Silom was another story altogether for running the obstacle course..

Yes. The Hilton shuttle boat drops you at the same hotel-boat pier as all the others (Peninsula, Oriental, Marriott, RO Sheraton), which pier is alongside the Taksin Pier on the Chao Phraya Express route. Both of those piers are directly underneath the Saphan Taksin SkyTrain station at the end (for now) of the Silom Line. Maybe 100 feet from the hotel-boat pier to the stairs leading up to the SkyTrain.

I've stayed at the Westin and SGS over 30 times. Never have had any troubles with being harrassed by working girls.

Just back from a three-night stay at the Hilton. Absolutely great, I'm now going to be a regular there. My colleague and I had adjacent club-level suites and I found them to be roomy, nicely decorated, and extremely comfortable. The only service issue (and this is really nit-picking) is that it took a long time for them to remove a room service tray after a little 4AM snack.

I loved the location - the ferry ran at regular and convenient times, and dropped us off right at the Skytrain. Taxis had no problem finding the hotel, and nobody gave us any grief about going there (though they all wanted a fixed fare).

Club lounge had great breakfast, and Flow had a very good (but expensive) buffet. The Chinese restaurant was a disappointment.

Pool very nice. Different, with the lounges in the water and a sand beach alongside. Great views.

Glad you liked it! I hope you didn't pay the taxi drivers the fixed fare, though. It's not like you're going 50 miles, you're just going over the bridge (and through the dale), to Grandmother Hilton's house. :)
