AA or NWA to BKK

I usually fly NWA but have noticed there is almost $1,000 higher ticket on NWA than AA. Is this typical or any idea of why? I am looking at the middle of Dec. and know that is a more expensive time of the year. Anyone who can compare the trip via AA or NW please advise me on which airline does the best job. Thanks!!

AA doesn't fly to BKK. It's probably a code share on JAL or some other Asian airline. NWA has fine service to BKK. On a A330 from NRT, with either a 747 or A330 to NRT depending on your NW gateway city.

where are you flying from? what are the prices like for KE and JL?

Flying from the heart of NWA territory  LSE (WI). I believe there is a flight that arrives at about 9:25pm and it does use JAL for that final segment. I would have to fly out of Chicago or Minneapolis from my home city.

I think the JAL segment will be JalWays which is something of a low cost carrier for JAL. Similar to a TED concept for United. They use a bit older planes and the service is decent but not like their primary product. I also think they use a bit older planes. If you are flying Y then I cant imagine it would be worth paying and extra 1k for NW unless you got a fare that is upgradable on NW.

I flew NWA for my first trip to BKK back in 1999 and hated the cattle car experience. After that I flew many times on AA's 777 to NRT, Jalways to BKK. Not great, but preferable to NWA.

ORD is one of KE's. id see what their prices are like comparatively.

I find NW's A330 service to be quite nice, even in coach. I've flown it to SE Asia 10 times in the last few years, and while coach isn't fun, its fine for me.

The cheapest fares on the route are often China Airlines or Eva Air via Taipei, also Asiana via Seoul, including US transfer to/from a US Pacific gateway. Their service tends to be better too although this applies more to front cabins including Eva Air's Premium Economy.
