I've seen this Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand category mentioned a few times recently in Thai social media...
https://guide.michelin.com/th/en/ban...nce&order=desc
(filtered for Bangkok only)
For anyone who likes Bak Kuh Teh, and can't get to Singapore, Song Fa has opened a branch here. Central World Level 3, just next to the Zen Dept. Store side.

Recommendations?
I have looked through a lot of this thread and have a few ideas (like Thip Samai) but would love other suggestions within the following criteria;
* < 1200 THB total (I dont care for alcohol so that should help)
* Preference for food that is Thai or great for some reason in Bangkok
* Not spicy
Edit: would also love recommendations for sweets/desserts also. Doesnt have to be Thai

Braised pork leg. Yum.
Pretty sure this place is a breakfast/lunch spot and so closes ~ 1:00 PM.
https://guide.michelin.com/th/en/ban...lom/restaurant
https://www.eatingthaifood.com/brais...eg-in-bangkok/ can also be found in his video "day 13, Bangkok", ~ 4:00 minute mark.

For 49er: lunch or dinner? is 1,200 for one person, or two? One preferred approach is to dine with at least one other person, preferably two or three, then all four can order/eat family style sampling 4 ~ 8 dishes. Any preferred location? Many shopping malls have branches of famous Thai restaurants, making it a bit easier re: transport.

I will be staying near Ploen Chit BTS so my location preference is Siam, Pathumwan, Sukhumvit or anywhere along BTS really. I will probably taxi to Thip Samai.
Mall food court is maybe a good way to go as a solo eater? Ive been to EatThai twice and loved it. That was with family so we shared food. I would certainly love some recommendations on other food courts and also specific street food stalls.
Im not much into pork so would probably pass on the pork leg. Chicken, seafood, beef are all ok. I dont like organ meats. My stomach cant handle spicy. I love noodle dishes and fall back on them a lot.
Would also appreciate recommendations for sweets. In past trips Ive noticed the Thai do even non Thai sweets well and often ingeniously (eg filled waffles) so any dessert recommendations, whether Thai or not, are welcome.

For lunch go to Sanguan Sri, it’s very close and very very good. Either go early or go late, if you arrive at 12:15 you’re going to be waiting a long time for a table. Cheep, old school traditional Thai which you’re right next to.
Street noodles, my favourite in your area is on langsuan road on the right hand side just after the Millenia SG tower. Walking down from chitlom BTS on the right you’ll walk past the hen and the egg, past the rongratana and then should hit a drink vendor and the noodle stall. Busy from 12-12:45 or so so avoid those times. I’d suggest large and no soup.

I almost always take visitors to an indoor food court: many, many, many options, often the best of the best as competition is fierce, all within one, indoor, clean, aircon, easy-to-get-to location. I'm partial to Siam Paragon Food Court, Food Republic (Siam Center) and the new Food Court in Central World (although that may not be open at present given the recent fire?), but most malls have a decent food court. like the one you've been to at Central Embassy.
For lunch go to Sanguan Sri, it’s very close and very very good.
I must have walked, and driven, past this place a couple of hundred times and didn't notice it.

Can't find anything about the noodle stall, but if it is "mobile" then be aware that streetside vending is prohibited on Mondays.
This desert place, with several branches, always seems packed - I've never been though.

Sanguine Sri is very unassuming, If you didn’t know its there you’d certainly just wander past without noticing. And yes, good point on the noodle stall, don’t go Monday (or Sunday), it won’t be there! Probably not Saturday either, I think he’s only Tuesday-Friday. And talking Monday (nights) my suggestion is always BTS to Thong lor, sit up at the counter at suppa..... and then go up to iron faeries for open mic night, imo one of the best nights out in the world.

Thai Taste Hub?
I read about it yesterday in a magazine but had not heard of it before. Apparently Thip Samai and some other notable restaurants have an outlet there. From a search, it appears to be in King Power Rangnam.
How does it compare to the original location? Any other opinions on Thai Taste Hub?

I haven't been but it looks like an upscale food court in the King Power complex (HQ, in town duty-free shopping, Pullman Hotel), which is a short walk from the Victory Monument BTS station (exit #2).
There are a ton of videos on Youtube, most in Thai but should give you a feel for what's on offer.
Thip Samai has a few locations, (they did have one in Siam Paragon food court but it closed a while ago) including the original, near Phuttha Monthon, ICONSIAM, KingPower Rangnam.
It should be great.

Reviving an oldie but a goodie ...
Schlepped all the way to Ekkamai from the river with my better half yesterday for late lunch at Mark Wiens one-dish restaurant to see long lines and they ran out of major ingredients for said dish! No pork or eggs so no go. Ended up going to Gateway Mall and had ala carte sushi - Kin Japanese Restaurant was good, affordable, and recommended for a light lunch.
