Nami Teppanyaki has some pretty good steaks, Savelberg has a few tasting menus.

With more time on my hands lately, I'm noticing how my list of restaurants I frequent is not as wide as I would like.

Street food aside.

What are people's current 'go to' restaurants?

Is Bangkok really banning street food?

So what does it all mean for fans of Bangkok street food?

Leela Punyaratabandhu, author of new book "Bangkok: Recipes and Stories from the Heart of Thailand" explains why the issue is so complicated.

My understanding is that in designated CBD's there is a 5000 THB fine for "blocking" the sidewalk as well as similar fines for scooters using the sidewalks. It was getting a little crowded trying to walk in those areas due to all the carts with their tables and chairs. In my neighborhood, On Nut, most of the street food vendors moved to a nearby parking lot or sometimes on the street or alleys in less busy areas. Of course, under BTS stations or overpasses seem to still be fair game. And, the scooters are still using the sidewalks along Sukhumvit when the traffic is heaviest.

Still a big fan of Scarlett. Tried Gaa last week for the first time and loved it (although I don't see how it's all that different from Gaggan, including in terms of price).

Looking forward to House on Sathorn next week.

As it happens, I was introduced to this spot by a Japanese woman I know. It’s been featured in a bunch of hipster Japanese tour guides to BKK and TH.

That would explain the situation.

It's a bit of a walk down a narrow soi to be turned away...Don't think I've been back since that time.

There are a lot of really good places focusing on northern cuisine, unfortunately, many of them (my favs) are a bit out from the city center.

If you do have the time, I'd suggest going to Gaggan (if you can still get a booking) - to be honest, it's a very different and unique experience, we went a while back:

We also went to Nahm a couple of year ago and the food was absolutely amazing, although be reminded that you need long pants (staff had to lend one to me!)

Agree with BuddhaExplores. We went to Gaggan last year and really enjoyed the food and experience.

No bar seating though and all the tables are really close together so it might be a little awkward as a solo diner.

I had a fantastic dinner at Gaggan in 2016. Best meal ever! And I do not even like Indian cuisine.

The Bangkok Michelin Guide has been released.

We had lunch at L’Atelier on Monday actually. The atmosphere was great but we didn’t find the food surprisingly good.
