well a very aspiring and ambitious goal to influence the immigration officer where to place the entry stamp in your passport!

any reason why you want them to stamp at any special space of your choice?

I am happy when they change to the correct date (expiry date of visa and not just the usual 30 days) when they stamp for me....

I was more "inspired" by the colourful language used to describe the immigration officers in the post you quote . I have never had any issues with immigration officers in BKK, and they have long stopped stamping in the middle of random pages for me, allowing to maximise page space (which I presume is the OP's point). The one time I did encounter issues was when I had my passport renewed and the visa transferred - but even then, the officer was most helpful in sorting it out (seems the visa office missed something)...

yes indeed! I am stunned how baseless insults against Thai officials (or politicians) are accepted on this board... I also had never any bad experience during hundreds of arrivals
space saving stamping is common at Thailands immigration in opposite to some other countries where they care much less....

Actually you have no right to order them where to stamp on your passport. It is not only in Thailand but in any country. It is their prerogative where to stamp it.

Sanctimony comes to Siam's rescue.

When did I ever wave the Don't Tread on Me flag and mention anything about "rights?"

If the officer complies, neat. If not, nothing else I can do.

  • This is what you said so it really is implying that you showed them where to stamp your passport and they ignored it and you got upset about it and called them jackasses. Now there are lots of things wrong with Thailand and even at Immigration sometimes but this is not that case.

Visa on Arrival Process

Hi, I would like to find out about the visa on arrival process for Thailand, arriving at BKK. I see online that it is 2000THB, however is this payable by card?
If not, are there atm machines before immigration to take out THB?

No idea, sorry, but yes there are ATMs at the arrivals level before immigration. You can exchange THB abroad nowadays too though.

Thank you for that, glad to know that there are ATMS before the immigration counters.

Are you sure about the ATM before immigration? Or it is just money exchange only?

BinSabai Sep 9, 2023 10:19 pm

the visa on arrival has to be obtained anyway at special counters which are still in the D main arrival level and not in the immigration hall East or West
there is a currency exchange booth close to the visa on arrival counters as the fee of 2000 THB has to be paid in cash and only in THB

it is recommended only to change few money (just for the fee) as you can get better E/R at other booths
