I am all in for a 2 week mid April trip without any quarantine contingency, Bangkok, Koh Samui and Chang Mai. Fortunately, except for a couple of internal flights, it's all miles or otherwise refundable bookings. It will be a bitter disappointment if I can't go.

BA have cancelled their October and November schedules to Bangkok (BA9 outbound; BA10 inbound). The new first available date to book is 9th December. Does anyone know when or why this happened?

They first announced Thailand would stay on the list where they "advise against all but essential travel to". This is separate from the red list which requires "quarantine on arrival from". There's a lot of commonality between the two, but not 100%, especially when they are changing like now.

Isn't this nothing to do with UK's "Red List" but everything to do with Thailand effectively still having a "ban" on passenger flights from most carriers? The CAAT have only authorised a number of carriers to land with passengers and BA is not one of them. I found a google spreadsheet on the Thai Consulate L.A. website:

No more quarantine/sandbox?
It's just been announced that Prayut is going to push for opening up all of Thailand from November 1st to vaccinated travellers from a designated list of countries (including UK, US, Singapore, and Germany) without need to quarantine or sandbox. It will be necessary only to arrive in Thailand with a negative PCR test less than 3 days old, and to take a further PCR test on arrival, but no other requirements beyond that.
This complete game-changer has apparently come about in response to Singapore announcing quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated travellers from a similarly select list of countries. It is hoped that this plan will be fully confirmed by the end of the week.
My fingers are very firmly crossed!
