Meanwhile, in the real world, Thailand is planning to use the U.S.- donated Pfizer vaccines as a booster for the million-plus Thai medical workers.

Hundreds of Thai medical workers infected despite Sinovac vaccinations
BANGKOK, July 11 (Reuters) - Thailand's health ministry said on Sunday more than 600 medical workers who received two doses of China's Sinovac vaccine (SVA.O) have been infected with COVID-19, as authorities weigh giving booster doses to raise immunity.
Of the 677,348 medical personnel who received two doses of Sinovac, 618 became infected, health ministry data from April to July showed. A nurse has died and another medical worker is in critical condition.

The developed world has f**ked the developing world once again. It is such an "honourable" act of US to donate a few million doses to Southeast Asia with population of hundreds of millions

When is everyone’s prediction on when Thailand gives up on controlling covid cases and opens back up? 2023 mid year?
They are not equipped to be doing this zero covid things and they cannot ever vaccinate + booster vaccinate at an acceptable rate to deal with artificial herd immunity.
So when do they decide to allow covid so we can get on with life?

Not sure what to make of this...other than we'll be getting into fraternity/sorority land soon.
New Covid variant reported in Bangkok
A new Covid-19 variant – a hybrid of the Alpha and Delta strains – has been discovered in Bangkok, the Department of Medical Sciences reported on Monday.

Seven cases of 'mixed infection' found
No serious symptoms so far in Alpha-Delta cases
Seven construction workers are suspected to have been infected with two variants of coronavirus at the same time, according to the Public Health Ministry.
Tests at a large construction site in Bangkok showed they were infected with the Alpha and Delta variants, first found in England and India respectively, Dr Supakit Sirilak, chief of the Department of Medical Sciences, said during the ministry’s daily briefing on Monday.

That really depends on how Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna is going to produce enough doses for the world or stuck with an not-so-effective vaccine you can get.

Didn’t India tell you anything about living with COVID? Now we got Delta variant breaking through the best vaccines so far and raging through the world.

India pre covid is unmitigated chaos, and it showed us that a less deadly strain (delta) could come from a natural herd immunity process. The delta variant is “raging” at a much lower death rate than flu.
Thai people will probably not be satisfied with starving to death in lieu of having a 0.x% IFR respiratory illness. More people die on mopeds in Thailand than covid by an order of magnitude I’m sure.

Ok then hide in a cave forever. Because your end goal is not feasible in most of the world. Covid is here.

The developed world only got better because they took all the vaccine produced so far.

2,xxx people have died of covid in Thailand since the beginning. That’s about a month worth of road accidents. I won’t look up the average age and comorbidities but maybe you’re aware of it. Thai people put food on the table with tourism dollars. You can’t play this game forever. It’s nonsense.
”took all the vaccine so far”
you mean “kept a good portion of the vaccine they developed and manufactured themselves”

Agree, but when those are the numbers presented, one can either attempt to draw a conclusion from them or ignore them.

if you are that selfish about the vaccine, why do you care whether Thai people can put food on the table? It is none of your business, just like the vaccine.

Govt lambasted for wasting early success
The government has mismanaged the Covid-19 pandemic and supply of vaccines, which has plunged the country into a crisis and stifled opportunities to recover, according to new research by the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI).
The institute has also called for the setting up of an independent committee to study the mishandling of the pandemic with the aim of drawing up a blueprint to prevent similar mistakes occurring in the future as it evaluates the government's performance after two years in office.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the government will hold a press conference to respond to the TDRI's assessment on Tuesday.

Is there a jab cover-up in Thailand?
It has become common knowledge that Thailand's national vaccine plan is inadequate, full of loopholes, flip-flopping and even worse, and might not be enough to deal with the fluid threat and devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic effectively. But vaccine mismanagement no longer appears to be the root cause of Thailand's Covid-19 trials and tribulations.
There are three potentially related processes in motion that underpin Thailand's inadequate vaccine rollout. If all three are found to be at work, their profound and explosive implications and consequences will likely lead to an unprecedented political cataclysm.

Government to pass new information decree this week, critics calls decree ‘problematic’
The government will pass an emergency decree this week aimed at battling disinformation but critics say the act is open to abuse and could be used to silence dissidents.
According to the government, this emergency decree, emergency order number 27, is meant to suppress harmful information that could cause the public to panic during the coronavirus pandemic.
The government has said that misinformation about its policies have caused undue panic and unwarranted criticism, something it wants to cut down on.
