New Year flight deals to Bangkok?

I'm planning a trip from London to Bangkok at the end of January and am trying to decide if I should wait last minute for flight deals? I can't remember for certain, but I always have the impression that most airlines offer really great sales after Christmas holidays as nobody wants to travel after New Years? So my question is, should I just book now of wait last minute and book? I'm also hoping I might manage to get my hands on a error fare/business class ticket.

I see fares around Ł1,500 London to Bangkok at the end of January on Finnair. You're unlikely to do much better than that so book. Gambling on an error fare isn't a good strategy

November through February is considered high season for travel to Thailand. I would expect airfare to be priced accordingly.

This is spot on. I would not expect any cheap BKK fares in January to be available last minute/later on. If we were talking about April (after Songkran) to June it would be a different matter, but not January/high season (flights to/from Thailand will be full).
I would buy the ticket now - waiting will most likely mean higher fares rather than lower/promo fares becoming available. I can almost guarantee you that you will not be able to fly on a "error fare" (neither to BKK nor elsewhere).

Maybe this will work for you:

Jan/Feb 2019: AMS-BKK (EK & EY) <1600 euro

At least the EK fare needs to be booked on/before 20 Sept.
