Bangkok hotels with best city views for photography
Hi All,
My wife and I will be in Thailand for the first time this November and we're starting to figure out some logistical things.
I'm very into cityscape photography and so I'm curious as to which Bangkok hotels have the best opportunities to take city shots and timelapses at night. Any photographers here able to provide some input? Or maybe if anyone can name some high rise hotels with roof top access to take pictures?
Thanks in advance!

OP, a couple that come to mind would be Marriott Soi 57 (Thong Lor) and Hilton Soi 26, though the latter has limited directional view.

You might think about places with lounges on high floors, in that between your room and the lounge, you might have views from two different sides of the building. I'm not aware of hotels in Bangkok that have separate room categories for city views, but you might be able to contact the hotel in advance and confirm that you will receive such a room.
Some of the hotels on the city side of the river might have city view rooms at lower rates that their river view room categories.

I don't know the guy, don't know anything about his photography, but maybe you could ask this photographer your question. He seems to take many photos from high places.

You'd want a room with a balcony, I think. Maybe something like the Lebua which I know has balcony rooms. http://www.lebua.com/state-tower/roo...-suite-balcony Shooting through glass is never going to give you clear shots due to the amount of grime on windows.
Or if you can find a place with windows that open, that's another option, although you wouldn't want to leave the windows open for long periods of time. I stayed at the Frasier Suites on Sukhumvit Soi 11 a few years ago and got some OK shots through an open window.
For sure ask for the kind of view you want and the hotel would probably be willing to work with you if they are able.

I'm not sure about photographs but for window views I like the Royal Orchid Sheraton. I love watching the long tail boats, and others, come and go along the Chao Praya River. The view from the lounge is wonderful.

I would concur with both the Royal Orchid Sheraton if you're on a budget, and the Lebua if you wish to go more upscale.

Not sure how adventurous you are but there are still a lot of "ghost" buildings left from 1997 crash, including the twin/sister of the Lebua State Tower (the nearby Sathorn Unique). I personally wouldn't go up any of these buildings without a reliable. qualified guide.

I'm not sure where this famous Carabao music video was filmed...(Eddie Grant/Give me Hope Joanna tune)...but I've seen other local music videos and commercials filmed at the same spot.

- The rooftop venues at Lebua Hotel at State Tower
- High floor facing the banks of proper bangkok at the Peninsula Hotel
- High floor facing the BTS bridge (South) at the Millennium Hilton
- ROS high floor facing the BTS bridge
- Marriott Sukhumvit top floors venues, executive lounge, & rooms.
The view from Klapsons The River Residences which is similar to the Peninsula views. Note the tower with the golden dome - that's Lebua State Tower.
The view from the Millennium Hilton pool overlooking the river - upper floors offer more dramatic views

We enjoyed so far some spectacular views from the roof tops of the following hotels in Bangkok incl.
-The Banyan Tree Hotel, especially from the Moon Bar & Vertigo Restaurant on top of the hotel:

-The Baiyoke Sky Hotel, especially from their Observation Point which rotates 360 degrees:
