Hua Hin Hotels

Hello, I have never been to Hua Hin but have been to Phuket. I assume Hua Hin is much cheaper than Phuket? I am looking for a few good Hotels within walking distance of the markets, food stalls, activity etc. I don't have to be on the beach but am having trouble locating the main thoroughfare of Hua Hin?

The thoroughfare is Phetkasem Road. Most (all?) resorts will be on the beach side along that road.

If you find the Hilton and look about 500m to the left, that's what would be considered "downtown". Easy 15 min walk. It's where markets are, and many restaurants. So this would be a good choice if you don't want to take a shuttle service, which you would need to from a place like the Sheraton 20 mins North of downtown.

Is this the info you were looking for?

Why do you expect it to be cheaper?

I've been flying up and down to BKK every week and was thinking of spending the weekend in Hua Hin. I've been doing a lot of research including asking those at the office and have concluded that there isn't much to do apart from the beach. Is this valid?

If so, I'd rather head out to Koh Samui where I can just hang around the hotel property. I like the Conrad and the W <- unfortunately out of my budget unless travelling with friends.

I enjoy strolling around the malls and shops in Bali and Phuket (avoiding the latter because organising transport has been a mess every time).

Have considered the Intercon and Hyatt Regency as hotel options.

I've stayed at both hotels. The IC has treated me to great upgrades, but the Hyatt is more centrally located. I don't think there's much excitement in terms of malls in Hua Hin (certainly nothing that you'll impress you if you're based in SIN), but it's a nice city to walk around and relax. There are some good food options. The beach is pretty lame by Thai standards.
