Very generally speaking, when business is off Thais tend to increase prices to try to cover lost revenue. This behavior may be counter-intuitive to some of us?

Tourist revenue may be the only bright spot on an increasingly darkening economic outlook for Thailand. While the raw arrival numbers are increasing: ~27 million in 2015, and ~ 30 million in 2016, the bulk are on pre-packaged, "zero dollar" packages. Further, some of these are buy 1, get 2/3 free. The current spend per head for Chinese tourists is ~ 3,000 baht, and there is much lamenting by various tourism "authorities" in the local press. They are constantly coming up with plans to "lure" more high value tourists.

I personally haven't experienced any significant increases; in fact gas is down quite a bit. Some increases in food prices may be due to the drought? But then I'm not buying tourist trinkets and such. I suspect some shops had to close because of a lack of business, while others may have had their rent increase and had to relocate. Probably a thousand stories in the big city?

We're well in to the shoulder season, which along with the heat, drought, political situation may lead to lower tourist numbers/revenue?

Yes, reminds me of Costa Rica back when I used to think I'll retire to San Jose .... My volume is down, I have to raise my price to make up for it

Thank goodness climate change is a hoax, otherwise I can only imagine what the temperatures in Central Valley would be. Used to be a high of 75F was kind of warm, now when I look, it's 85 or more ....

Accor has a sale that includes stays for the next week. Must book by midnight today (Currently 15:30)

Prices for all their Thailand hotels should be chopped too!

I just saved about 50% for this weekend in Singapore.

In search of help with Flights suggestions from US

I am a long time lurking and this is my first post/question, so please forgive me if I am in the wrong spot.

I am traveling to Cambodia and Thailand in Oct from the US. We are looking for business/first class flights can anyone offer any suggestions on airlines and the best route to take? I will be flying from Florida but can book a domestic to any location in the US as the departure city.

Thread is for posting deals, not requesting them

But since you are willing to position, see Premium Fare deals for YVR-Asia for $2K in Biz.

Got two booked myself, both to BKK

$2K and $2.1K

Here's a business class fare from HKG. I thought it may be of use to members in Thailand

Reviving an old but good thread ...

Many good auctions for 3 - 4 nights in Phuket and Krabi for a total of under $100 per stay including daily breakfast. I am sure there are restrictions on time of year to visit but still a great bargain if you visiting during these dates. Other auctions for Cambodia, Bali, Morocco, etc.

Another travel fair at Queen Sirikit starts today through Sunday.

Advance purchase can lock in deals, if you don’t mind beating down the crowds to find them.
My experience is that the truly special deals are hard to find. I’ve had my best luck prepaying for Thai hotels, buying coupons at reduced rates.
