The PM is doing the opening ceremony at 12pm so it might actually open before 3pm if they clear out earlier. Just don't expect to be using it in the morning!
And don't forget that the MRTA built BTS ext north of Mo Chit will open 1 station north to Ha Yaek Lat Phrao in about 2 hrs. (Essentially at Central Lat Phrao)

If the PM is attending an opening for a small rail extension, then for when Mangmoom finally covers all modes of transit, I'm going to expect nothing short of a national holiday.

Thus, from Tuesday 13 August the MRT Blue Line ext free shuttle service to Tha Phra will be operate from 7am to 9pm!.
The MRT Blue Line ext trial period is not only now operating from 7am to 9pm, as of this past weekend it has now been extended by 2 more stations to Bang Wah to provide a handy interchange with the BTS Silom line terminus.

It is still a only shuttle service from Hualumphong station every 8 mins and still free until the full opening to Lak Song scheduled for 29 Sept. (Though I expect that they might move to through services before then....)

The MRT Blue line has been operating since Sat 21 Sept to Lak Song as a through service on a normal schedule but only until 11pm - still as a free trial service.

The official opening will still happen this Sunday 29 Sept when full fare collection will begin.

(The remainder of the Blue Line extension from Tao Poon to Tha Phra will open in March 2020.)

I’m confused. Maybe Yappo, Transpac, or others can clarify.

There’s a sky train line along the railroad tracks running north past Don Muang airport. As I understand, it’s supposed to run all the way to Thammasat, although the stage that’s opening in 2020 (or 2021) will only go as far as Lak Hok.

Now, I hear mumbling about a Monorail from Don Muang, into the city. Or was it all the way to Utapo? I thought a monorail goes only one way (or in a circle). Does this mean the skytrain that looks mostly finished isn’t going to open after all?

And when will the train open to Thammasat? Or will people need to rely on the one to Sai Mai?

Its nice that the MRT has opened up several stations, and more to open in the new year.

There is no BTS at the airport. In front of the airport is the SRT train, dark red line. Eventually there should be a BTS line behind the airport.
There is no new monorail planned between the different airports. They are working on extending the ARL from DMK to BKK and then down to UTP.

The trains for the SRT extensions/renovations are currently being shipped by boats and headed towards Thailand. (over 100 train cars)

I hope that helps.

Its a short monorail proposed to link across to the extended green line on the eastern side of the airport

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand...mueang-airport

Airports of Thailand Plc plans to build a 3-kilometre monorail electric train route to link Don Mueang international airport with the Bangkok Transit System (BTS) Green Line on the Mor Chit-Saphan Mai-Khu Khot route in Bangkok's northern suburb, Don Mueang airport deputy director Flying Officer Sumpun Khutranon said.

Assume that monorail will be just north of the airport, and connect to KM25 (N23) Station on the northern (light?) green line extension.

Dark Red Line? Who knows, many moving parts: physical works complete, but need electrics, signaling, rolling stock, Bang Sue terminal which still looks like it's got a long way to go..

2020? 2021?

"Both the northern and the western sections of the Red Line are due to open next year."

You'll have plenty of heads up when it gets close.

I have some difficulty of finding an uptodate map of the MRT network. The one I found all make the blue line stops at Hua Lamphong, which is not correct anymore. Is there an uptodate out there ? This one seems the best as far as I can see

My first port of call would be the website of the operator of the system, Bangkok Expressway and Metro:
https://metro.bemplc.co.th/MRT-System-Map?lang=th
https://admin.bemplc.co.th/Upload/MR...559794977..pdf

Edited to say I didn't click your link first but now I have, they have just used the one from BEM that I have linked to.

Thanks. I could not find the site of the operator initially, this is useful.

The SRT Dark red line will not open until early 2021.......just a little after the original early 2016 schedule!

2) MRT Blue Line ext openings - trial runs in July
Phase 1: 12 August 12 - Hualumphong to Tha Pra,
Phase 2: Late Septmeber - Tha Pra to Lak Song
Phase 3: March 2020 - Tao Poon to Tha Pra

Of the 35 new trains that BEM has ordered, 9 have been delivered, 10 more will arrive by Sept and 16 by March 2020.

3) BTS Sukhumvit Line North extension openings

Phase 1: 12 August Mo Chit to Ha Yaek Lat Phrao (1 station)
Phase 2: December 2019 (TBC) Ha Yaek Lat Phrao to Sen Nikom
Phase 3: rest of the line to Ku Kot

Progress of civil works for lines currently under construction (as of 31 October)
1) MRT Blue Line ext: 100%
2) BTS Northern ext: 100% S&E intsllation 67%
3) MRT Orange Line: 49.05%
4) MRT Pink line: 46.13% and
5) MRT Yellow line: 45.88%
6) SRT Dark Red Line: 100% S&E installation 43%
7) Tinky toy 2.2km Gold Line: approx 43% est

It should be noted that there have been some delays with Pink and Yellow line construction as some of the beams for the monorail (which are made to fit for specific sections) were for sections where the pillars have not been built yet and vice versa......lack of coordination to resolve!

1) BTS Sukhumvit line northern extension phase 2 opening (Dark Green on MRT maps and Light Green on BTS maps)
Most of you know by now that the BTS northern ext phase 2 to Kasetsart Uni (N13) opened on 4 December for full operations. The remainder of this extension to Khu Khot is not due to open until the end of 2020.

2) MRT Blue Line extension phase 2 - trail operations for 6 hours a day (10am - 4pm)
The MRT opened the fist 4 stations from Tao Poon to Sirindhorn in early Dec and then the remaining 4 stations to Tha Phra last week for free, trail ops. Only 6 hours a day. This runs along the inner ring rd (Charan Sanitwong rd) on the east side of the river.

This extension is not due to officially open for full operations until 30 March 2020.

I note that google maps now has both extensions on their Bangkok map.

The next 4 openings will be;
1) 30 March 2020: MRT Blue Line extension,
2) Late 2020 :BTS Sukhumvit line north extension phase 3 - N13 to N24 Khu Khot,
3) Late 2020/early 2021: BMA Gold line
4) Early 2021: SRT Dark and Light Red lines - finally opening after 2016 due date (though the light red line was open for 14 months back in 2013!)

Planned Tenders in 2020;
1) April 2020 MRT Purple line,
2) Mid 2020: MRT Orange line western extension,
3) Mid 2020 MRT Blue line western extension,
4) Late 2020 MRT Brown line (being built integrated with the N2 Expressway)

At this stage, (1) & (4) are most definite with (2) & (3) still having the possibility of further delays.
