Phi phi resorts
 

Hi-
I searched through the threads and didn't see anything about chain hotels on phi phi island. I am going for my honeymoon in august and will be using Marriott points on Phuket. I couldn't find any international chains on phi phi, but would love a suggestion for a nice, reputable place to spend a few nights. We are willing to go high end as the bulk of the trip is going to be on miles and pts.
One last thing, anyone have comments on the JW Marriott on Phuket?

Isn't there a Holiday Inn on Phi Phi that is supposed to be quite decent?

As for the JW Marriott on Phuket, I really liked it (two stays) but it is fairly remote and the beach often not swimmable so it might not be for you.

I have not personally stayed, but Zeavola is considered by many to be the best option on Phi Phi.

Everyone's opinion is subjective, of course, but having spent a few days in Phi Phi last winter I would avoid it like the plague.

The main town, re-built since the tsunami, is an unremarkable collection of back-packer hostels and frat-bars with little charm and zero impression of Thailand.

As there are no roads on the island the high-end hotels on beaches are only reachable by longtail boats and hardly seem worth the effort if you've already stayed in Phuket.

I much preferred the island of Koh Lanta and for a small,simple,inexpensive and very well-run beach hotel I would highly recommend this place.

And if you've never been scuba-diving it's a superb place to learn.

especially during nights Phi Phi is hardly bearable, only BumBum and drunk partying people

ok, not at the Zeavola, because this is on the northern tip of the island and far away from all the trouble... but from the nice beaches too - it has its own beach but there you have no clue being on Phi Phi - you could be on any beach of the world, wouldn't make much of a difference

my advice: stay away from Phi Phi if it´s longer than a day(trip)... because I would recommend Phi Phi for a day trip from Krabi or Lanta or where ever you stay and is in range, even Phuket is possible
if the weaher is nice, the boat trip itself is a great experience - at least if you have no heavy luggage to carry and can enjoy the sun and one or two beers on the front deck with company... would do this again in a second. Even my wife agrees on this while she had major reservations upfront.

note: for those like myself who do enjoy drunk partying people on occasion - Koh Phi Phi doesn't have enjoyable drunk partying people.

Koh Phi Phi manages to cram everything annoying about Thai tourism (overpriced bad food, overpriced crap lodging, extremely apparent pollution, obnoxious lout tourists, annoying touts, spoiled brats updating their Facebook status every 5 minutes and loudly proclaiming what a wonderful time they are having while refusing to interact with anyone not online or at home via phone) into a very small strip that's inescapable.

I just came back from a very relaxing and pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn. It is located far from the main hustle in Phi Phi on the north beach and is reached by boat. It shares the beach with one or two small hotels. Although it was full the beach/pool etc. hardly felt crowded. Would go again in a heart beat.

I didn't enjoy Phuket, it is a sex industry town with unattractive streets and beaches. Krabi and especially Raleigh beach was full of families and day trip vacationers with constant tail boat noise, even at night.

I had a buddy who once, to his dismay, had a trip to Pattaya inadvertently become Krabi

Decided to still go to phi phi. Looking at zevola due to private pool - bat 700us per night w the villa. Does anyone have a better resort? We can't find to much on Ft or the Internet in terms of other resorts that look reputable.

You do realize that Phuket is a fairly large island and there are plenty of places to enjoy away from Patong and Bangla Rd.; right? :rolleyes:

I think shock completely missed this. Clearly not somebody with much Phuket experience.

Agreed; and posts like that give first time travelers the wrong impression of Phuket. It's so much more than Bangla Rd. and Patong beach...!
