Do you really believe that CX, NH, SQ, JL, OZ or BA, LH, LX.. have the same policy from discounted Y to F? Even on AF, where staff/family appear to have unlimited access to upgrade to C, they are now quite restrictive on upgrade to F.

Just booked TG921 FRA-BKK on 30JUN and TG920 BKK-FRA 31JUL in J and when I saw the seat map I was surprised to see that almost all seats were allready assigned!

Yes, I do. Many of the staff have it written into their contracts, I have flown many flights with a full relief crew in the cabin. Most large business contracts signed with airlines imply the same. Sporting teams and celebrity agencies and promoters enjoy the same. Many third world companies have a cradle to the grave work ethic, you may not like it, but it is a reality

We must be flying different versions of those airlines I mentioned. ,
If anyone is still paying full fare for a first class ticket on any airline, they shouldn't expect to be taken seriously on any airline forum. Having said that, I enjoy discussions on this board, that is why I prefer the TG board, even though it's the airline I fly least;) |

No, they're the same airlines, this is a FF forum where we learn what others are doing and strive to get the same. Where some of us differ, is I read about what others are doing and say "I don't want the same, I want better", it is so easy to whinge and blame someone else, even to the degree of flaming posters. If you do a lot of business in Asia, you have to think like an Asian, fly First class, introduce yourself to these people who you "think" are rorting the system, and if you want discounts, become a member of their racing clubs. Frequent flyers who want airline and hotel benefits have to capitalise on the fact that the loneliest people in any city are GMs of airlines and hotels.

You don't want this thread to be shut down. |

... so back on topic I promised I would post on loads for a recent trip...
Flew Weds 26 on TG 917 LHR-BKK and it was roughly 50% full in F & J. I couldn't see Y, but I would guess 40%-50% based on the numbers in the departure gate. Coming back on 1st June TG 910 and it was 90% full all the way through. I was upstairs in J and it was completely full and I didn't see a spare seat in either F or J. Again, I didn't make it back to Y but check in told me the flight was full. |
As I just said elsewhere, last nights TG925 had 2 in F (I thought I was going to be alone until the other fella boarded just before doors closed...), 9 in J and 99 in Y. Suvarnabhumi was very quiet.
If you want to know the fight loads rather than guess just ask the crew. |

Wednesday nights TG477 to SYD had 3 in F, 8 in J and 24 in Y. Not good for a 346.
|
Flew HKG-BKK-HKG May 15 same day return. A330 both flights with <10 passengers in J. Bought Standby Upgrade at check in and the price was still US$210 each segment. Economy was about half full, according to the FA on the HKG-BKK segment and was >90% full with tour groups scrambling to leave Thailand on the BKK-HKG segment.
