Conection Times at BKK
 

Flying from Phuket early April to pick up a conection At BKK the BA flight at 23.35

How reliable are TG ( are meny domestic flights canceled or late). What time should I aim to arrive at BKK.

I cant afford to miss the BA flight as will be traveling on a Premium award ticket. I dont want to find myself traveling in coach the next day as I missed my flight.

Thai flies Phuket-BKK pretty much hourly, so there are backups. I presume you'll have to collect and re-check in your bags at BKK, which can be a bit of a hassle (domestic and international terminals are separate), so you'll still wish to allow several hours to spare.

I would allow 2 hours in Bangkok.

Normally you can check your luggage through from Phuket, but then you must clear immigration in Phuket as well. Collecting your luggage in Bangkok and rechecking is a real hassle, better avoid it. I doubt that you will get your boarding passes for the British Airways flight in Phuket, so if you want more choice for your seat, maybe better allow an extra hour. I don't know how the BA lounge in Bangkok is, but at night all the lounges, including the Thai Royal First Class are crowded.

Indeed Thai flies very frequently from Phuket to Bangkok, so if a flight would be cancelled, you would still have the next one, even with only two hours. One hour is definitely too short.

If you are travelling during the peak season (Jan - March) all these flights are full, so they will not cancel it easily.
