TG/CO RTW
I just found out there is a TG/CO RTW fare
out of BKK at about $3700 First class. Since CO does not have first class, thier portion of the itinerary will be on Business First, which I would compare favorably to UA's First class. I know its more expensive than UA/CX super deal, yet I might take up on this fare as I will make it to Platinum status on Continental with this trip. Besides, I like flying non-stop to BKK from CDG on TG's full-flat F, rather than taking CX by way on HNG even though thier First class offers an exceptional experience. Does anyone know if any other asian cities offer better deal than in BKK on this fare? |
Kaoru, no offense, but the IATA three letter code for Hong Kong is HKG. I know it's none of my business, but I noticed you've been referring Hong Kong as HNG for past posts as well, so... Believe me, nothing personal... (Would've advised you by e-mail, but you didn't have one listed, so sorry to go public...)

Silver, Thanks so much for correcting me!
In the future, I count on you to be my mentor http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif BTW, the use of three letter code here is so rampant that I must always carry OAG pocket mini-guide with me from now on... thank you again. |
Anytime Kaoru... By the way, again, nothing personal, just simply curious, but, how did you come up with your alias? Or, do you happen to be the real KK? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

please inform a far-away swiss about what the real KK would be - thank you.

Hiya Papst, let's wait for Kaoru to reply... In the mean time I'll just say it's a Japanese thing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

are u sure that the F RTW is $3700? Usually this is the price for a 2-airline C RTW from and to the USA. (at least has been in the past...). I agree that TG is fine--I did a $3700 RTW on TG and UA in June 1999 which was nice. Even enjoyed the dried fish as a cocktail snack!

Silver, Chiangi,
To answer your questions as well as to satisfy your curiosity, let me just say she is a distanc relative of mine. As opposed to her global travel in the glorious days of travel on Pan Am, I am just a cyber traveller without much time spent on exotic places and appreciate culture as she did. how sad.... |
KK, what exactly is the 'UA/CX super deal?'
|
NY Traveller,
There is a first class RTW ticket by UA/CX only out of BKK at about $3,400 right now. (It recently went up from $3,100. I think this represents by far the best round-the-world first class deal. One recommendation; fly as many segements on CX as possible... |
Hello Kaoru,
With your extensive premium travel experience, I think you well deserve being the cyber KK. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I am a big CX fan as you are (I know, wrong board, sorry), and so far have had eight flights with them this year. I agree, the Betsy product is pure bliss... I will be flying to London with them next week, this time in business class. Flying is sometimes painful, but never with Cathay. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Happy flying to you. silver |

Hello Silver and Chiangi,
Thank you guys for your sweet comments! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif : ) I have already flowen over 200,000 miles this year and wonder when on earth am I able to take advantage of all these miles to enjoy the pristine beaches and Aman hideaways, etc.. Story of the cyber traveller. Wish I was born in the glorious days of my auntie Kaoru http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif At least, I get to fly Betsy suites and other premium classes when I travel; otherwise you know travelling this much becomes utterly suicidal. (Unless every major transit airports can boost the standards of the CX lounge in HKG with all the Spa amenities... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
POST DELETED - found the details in another thread. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
