Using United Miles for Thai Air upgrade
Greetings,
I have 250K in United Mileage Plus miles. I am taking a Thai Airways trip (JFK - BKK) at the end of February 2008. I would like to upgrade your United International ticket with my miles if you can upgrade my Thai Airways ticket with your miles. I think from browsing these forums this idea may be frowned upon. Please feel free to set me straight if that's the case. That being said if anyone has any ideas of how I can do what I want in principal please feel free to drop me a line. I have thought about posting to Craigslist in the usual Hub cities in the US in hope to facilitate a private swap. Best regards, Dan |
UA MP members can't upgrade on *A carriers
What do you mean "swap an international upgrade (economy to business) using miles for the same on Thai Airways"?
Do you mean use UA points to upgrade a flight on TG metal? If yes, then you're out of luck: From the UA website: Star Alliance Upgrades Effective May 31, 2007: We will no longer accept Star Alliance Upgrade Award requests at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience." See also the relevant pages on the *A website here. |
Thanks. I edited my original post for clarity. -Dan
