Listing of standby upgrades prices for THAI

OK, I'll try and maintain a list of standby upgrade prices here, sorted by approximate price (low to high), and by cabin class (Y-C, and C-F). I'll also fill in Y-U and U-C data (U is booking class for Premium economy). Please feel free to add your most recent information!

Key points:
- Costs are set in USD, and converted to local currency when you buy
- Cost is the same whether to or from BKK
- Cost Y-C is the same as C-F (and the corollary follows)
- Cost Y-F is twice the Y-C

Data here is up to date (at 18 Sep 07)

Cost per one-way sector or vv (Y-C or C-F)

USD 065 BKK-PEN/PNH/SGN/VTE/RGN
USD 130 BKK-HAN/KUL/KMG
USD 190 BKK-SIN/HKG/BWN/CAN/CCU/DAC/CTU/CGP/
USD 250 BKK-KTM/CGK/CMB/DPS/MNL/TPE/XMN
USD 310 BKK-PEK/SEL (more to come)
USD 380 BKK-FUK/NGO/KIX/NRT/DXB/
USD 435 BKK-KWI
USD 505 BKK-ATH/PER
USD 630 BKK-BNE/MEL/SYD/MXP/FCO
THB 26000 BKK-CPG (Y to U [prem econ])
USD 745 BKK-AKL/FRA/MUC/CDG/ZRH/JNB/DME/MAD
USD 870 BKK-LHR

Update as at 16 Sep 2009
via kiam

**Take a close look at the price to upgrade from U to C between BKK-LAX, and the difference to do the same (U to C) for BKK-Scandinavia.** I don't think it was a misprint. Even from Y to C price is outrages ! You could actually get a roundtrip ticket in C anyway with USD 1,895 additional. Not sure what's the logic there. Does anyone know?

First number (USD) means One Class upgrade, second number (or N/A) means Two Classes upgrade, except LA and Scandinavia which are specially indicated below.

Cambodia/Laos/Penang/Myanmar, USD 70, N/A
Vietnam/Malyasia/Kunming, USD 140, N/A
Hong Kong/Bangladesh/Singapore, USD 210, USD 420
Sri Lanka/Taipae/Indonesia/Nepal/Philippines/Xiamen, USD 280, N/A
India/Pakistan/China, USD 345, USD 685
Korea/Middle East/Japan, USD 420, USD 835
Perth/Kuwait, Perth-Phuket, USD 480, N/A
Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane, USD 695, N/A
Europe/South Africa/NZ, USD 825, USD1,645
London, USD 960, USD 1,920

Los Angeles, USD 760 (Y to U), **USD 1,895 (Y to C)**, **USD 1,645 (U to C)**

Stockholm/Copenhagen/Oslo, USD 810 (Y to U), USD 1,620 (Y to C), USD 810 (U to C)

From TG's Norway page at http://www.thaiairways.no/REISE_THAI...by_upgrade.htm

Y->PE USD 731
Y->C USD 1463
PE->Y USD 731

They have a link there to other prices for other locations at http://www.thaiairways.no/REISE_THAI...rade_table.pdf

Take a look at that and you can update your list very well I think.

Excellent source material - thanks! Beats me, though, why THAI can't provide this information on the main international website!!

Hey TK,

FRA-BKK Y to C or C to F is always 650 USD (they never charge you Euros there).
BKK - FRA or MUC Y to C or C to F is 26000 THB
also
MUC - BKK Y to C is 650 USD

I ll guess the Y to C price is always the same like the C to F price. Also you can "double" upgrade i.e.
FRA - BKK Y to F is 1300 USD or
BKK - MUC Y to F is 52000 THB

BKK-CPH Y to U, THB 26000

OK, just back from visiting THAI HQ in Vibhavadi Rangsit. The staff confirmed that all teh prices are set in USD, and converted on the day, even ex-BKK flights. I'll update the original post, but the staff had no explanation why it was a THAI website in Norway (which isn't even directly served by TG) had the listing.....

Thanks for the contributions, and the 'how did I do it' will be as useful as the cost!

Any price for LAX? Y-C or Y-PE.

Fliar Sep 18, 2007 1:33 am

Just did BKK-ICN-BKK
From BKK-ICN it was 10,500 baht. Glad I didn't do it as it was the crappy old cabin, which didn't even have IFE! (only some Thailand tourist programme on the main screen)

From ICN-BKK it was only 100USD!

The fare ex BKK seems to be set in THB, since I paid for six trips bkk-Germany over the last 12 month always 26000 THB even.

When was that? I did about 6 or 7 UG in the past 12 month (the last in April 2007) from Muc or Fra to BKK and it was always 650 USD (approx. 500,00 Euro). Did they changed the price recently? Considering this the UG is not that bargain anymore, since I get a J class tik from BER to BKK for approx. 2100,00Euro and the average Y tik over the last 12 month was approx. 750,00 Euro. So it seems to get less cost effective.
