747 to Phuket

I noticed on the thaiair website that Thai flies a 747-400 to Phuket on select flights, but that it does not sell first class seats. Do these planes have first class seats? Is it one of those situations, where premiers can fly in Frist on a biz ticket and that first has business class service? Also, does anyone know if these are the new or old seats?

The planes do have a first class section and is opened to passengers travelling with a business class ticket. I assume allocation of the seats in the F section are given to ROP and *A Gold etc, but I am only blue on BMI and each time I have had the chance I have asked and they have given me a seat in F. Earlier this year I got a chance to sample the latest F seats and very nice they are.

Regards

John

Try a search on this topic - it has been addressed many, many times and there is a wealth of info/views. You need to pick your flight though to make sure it is the 744.

Thanks John. I guess it is worth the extra $80 then to buy a biz ticket.

Yes, F seating for C pax. Also, currently, all B747 flights are showing as newly configured aircraft. On a side note, anyone knows if he can use the massage or only for International C pax? I suspect the latter.

If arriving internationally, you could probably do it prior to transiting to the domestic side. Once on the dometic side, probably not.

F seating is available to SOME C pax, and my experience that it is a FFP status and early check-in that win the day. I've flown twice with the family to HKT in C specifically to be seated in F seat, and not all of the F seats were allocated to C pax - which gleaned some confused looks from those sitting inthe regular C seat behind the F section - especially with my kids seated comfortably. This may have been by accident, but I doubt it.

I just remembered that THAI has e-check-in. So maybe you want to try to pre select these seats.

Be careful with OLCI when seeking F seats in domestic C

Tried that, the F seats don't show - at least not the times I've tried (8 months ago now).

Worse, when I tried to 'bail out' of the OLCI process, the system still said I'd already been checked in and had been was allocated regular C seats YIKES. Solved with a call to the nice TG Gold help desk (yes, it was rather unbeliveably, answered).

Always in F

I've done that ride often and as a UA 1K they put me in F. Please note that if the pax is in shorts or trash clothes no F.
