Emergency Row

Hi,

We are travelling in J LHR-BKK-HKT and return. At present we have 23AB and 24AB booked. Is it worth getting to the airport very early to try to get 22AB?

Also will they be able to allocate us a seat in F for the BKK-HKT leg when we check in at LHR?

Thanks for any help and advice.

Steve

For the domestic flight, having ROP or *A Gold status assists in getting those seats. I've been on flights where C was not full, but some pax (me!) were setaed in the F seats. Of course, you gotta be on a 747 BKK-HKT-BKK in the first place.

Exit row and bulkhead seats are not supposed to be allocated until actual physical checkin on the day, however, I know that TG does allocatethese preferentially to well connected Thais even before the 24 hrs period. By allmeans, ask your TA to place a seat request for those seats, note your status (are you *G?), and check in early....good luck though!

I do not know for row 22. But my recent experience is that it is difficult to get the "nose" seats (F seats of teh 747 sold as C seats on domestic flights) when you check-in in Europe. I was in F from CDG-BKK-HKT, but they could only gave me a C seat on the BKK-HKT at check-in (they tried hard). Too late to get it changed to a "nose" seat when I got in BKK lounge. But, I got a "nose" seat when I checked-in at HKT for my return trip. My guess is that they are unsure of the plane they will actually use at the time you depart LHR so do not allocate the "nose" seats until the plane is determined.

Yes it is worth it if you like emergency exit seats. I always arr. early (2.5 hrs before departure)to try get emergency or bulk head seats and then chilli out in SQ's KrisLounge :D

Enjoy!

Ok thanks-i guess we'll get there at least 3 hours before to allow for the M25:td: :td:

These are reward seats but I don't have Gold status:( :(. maybe being in the business will help:D :D

Can we use the SQ lounge at LHR-how does it compare to the SAS lounge which is just OK?

Once again thanks for all of the help.

You are fully entitled to use the SQ lounge at LHR if you don't like the SAS lounge. Or you can use both if you want...:D

The emergency exit rows and bassinet positions cannot be pre-assigned. However there are some good (IMHO) seats that can be pre-assigned. Upperdeck bulkhead (row 11) can be pre-assigned since it's neither exit nor bassinet position. If you can get 11A or 11K then do it. Don't get the aisle seat due to proximity to lavatory.

Another good seat to try is 23EF. No window but tons of legroom. 22AB sometimes is disturbed by F/A activities.

I thought you have to be *G in order to visit all the *A lounges, no? Cos they always asked for my Gold Card when I turn up at LHR KrisLounge where they note down my ROP membership no.

No need to be *G - if you are travelling biz, you are entitled to use any *A carrier's biz lounge (some minor exceptions). You can't invite a guest, which *A travelling even in Y can do.
