Qualifying miles question
Hi,
I'll be taking TG Domestic round trip BKK- KKC (Khon Kaen) in W + V fare class this month How many qualifying miles do I get for this itinerary? Since I need 959 qualifying miles to retain Gold Status by end of December 2024. Thanks BTS_FAN |

I reckon 1,000 miles. A minimum of 500 miles for each leg, and V/W classes count.

4. Mileage accumulated on THAI is determined by the fare paid and the class of service flown. Actual miles flown are earned in all classes plus applicable class of service bonus miles subject to the ticketed booking class: Economy Class - 100% to 110%, Premium Economy Class - 110%, Royal Silk Class - 125% to 150%, Royal First Class - 200% to 250%. On international THAI flights on discounted Economy Class fares in G booking class earns 50% miles, T, K, S booking classes earns 75% and V, W, booking classes earns 25% of actual miles flown. L class is not eligible for mileage accrual. For THAI operated flights of less than 500 miles in distance a minimum of 500 miles are earned in all eligible booking classes.

I booked a cheap (but not unbelievably cheap) HKG-BKK-LHR through Trip and when asking at the airport found out it was in L class. This earns zero miles even on Thai's own programme.
I wasn't expecting to earn much given the ticket price but I'm surprised that this fare class earns zero even on the carrier's own programme. In Thai's fare class table it is not listed as deep discount economy (which was what I would have presumed the ticket was) so can anyone explain what L class is? Thanks. |

I never buy a ticket without knowing the fare class, unless mileage earning is immaterial 😎 So, L economy is the lowest/cheapest possible fare class available to the public. In the ROP T&Cs it is stated as non-earning. I would guess it is mainly used for package tours with bundled accommodation, and Trip has accessed it (perhaps stripped out accom and any other tour stuff). 4.
