When Thai Airways Turned my Business Class into a Comedy Show

Hey travelers,

Just had to share this hilarious experience with Thai Airways. I'm a Star Alliance Gold member with over 86,000 miles under my belt. So, you'd think I'm treated like royalty, right? Well, hold onto your seats (or not) for this one.

I booked a business class ticket for the ultimate pampering. But guess what? On boarding, they downgraded me to economy! The plot twist of the century. From luxury to cozy, I couldn't help but laugh.

Now, the cherry on top their compensation: a generous $150 voucher. Yep, you read that right. A whole $150 to ease the pain of my comedy show downgrade.

So, here's the deal: I'm torn between framing that voucher for giggles or asking for your wisdom. Ever been comedy-downgraded? Got any tips for using a $150 voucher in the real world?

Let's turn this post into a hub of hilarious travel tales. Share your upgrade/downgrade sagas or tell me what to do with my $150 comedy prize.

Life's a journey, sometimes a funny one,

1. No, I wouldn't expect a *G flyer to be treated like "Royalty".

2. The FLIGHT concerned is an important detail. If downgraded on BKK-LHR then yes, $150 is a joke.... If OTOH it was BKK-KUL it would be closer to reasonable...

Welcome to FT !

Routing would help ? Reason given for the downgrade ? Presumably they refunded the fare difference ?

as already said, do not expect as one of many thousand *A gold passengers to be treated like royalty....even on your own airline, where you are member....

as you do not mention route, what fare you paid or whether it was an award or upgrade ticket and in particular, what reason was given for downgrade, it is impossible to give any reasonable answer on the voucher given....

Well. Isn't this the nicest welcome ever to a new fellow FT? Guys, you have all out done yourselves. Although, I did read some sarcasm in the OP's post but maybe it's just my me....

It's not that funny or uncommon or even a big deal? Surely you've encountered $150 in the real world in the course of accruing your near-86,000 miles? I'm sorry this happened to you, but the tone of this post is so weird.

There sure is such an old saying unless it's about rhetorical questions which in themselves don't require any answer...

I am not sure this thread would be the right place for folks to list their upgrade/downgrade sagas given this is the THAI ROP forum.

As other have noted, without any flight details, folks are unable to offer any opinions on courses of action. I think best to draw a line under this thread unless the OP returns with more info.

Correct. It could only be DPs regarding either upgrade/downgrade of ROP pax in any *A flight or any *A FFP pax flying TG.
