50% redemption for Gold/Plat must be return

Called THAI today as I wanted to use a 50% mileage redemption SGN-BKK. I had a very good agent who advised me the following:

- I have a 50% redemption available (left over from 2022) to be booked by 30 Jun this year
- I have a 50% redemption available (for this year) to be booked by 31 Dec this year
- All 50% redemption must only be for a roundtrip journey

The last point is a surprise as the THAI redemption tables are all for one-way journeys. Seems like a way to burn down the mileage 'debt' on the books, and is very infallible. The agent said the system doesn't allow him to manipulate it to a one-way,so it seems their system has been updated rather than it being just a paper policy....

Bah, humbug!

Thank you, I am looking to book my wife and son in using points. From memory the 50% redemption can only be for the actual gold member?

I have gifted to my wife before in 2019. Not sure if this is still the case.

50% redemption can be used by nominees too. However, the Gold upgrade voucher can be used only by the member.
